Take A Walk on the Wild Side

After a long week of basketball last week, I am back to work on Emmilu and Brother Too!

I wanted to share with you three of my favorite items from the Wild Thing collection.

The first is the Lucy and Mackey in Wild Floral

This set is a classic pillowcase top with fabric ties & wide leg crop pants with contrasting ruffles. I love this set because it can be dressed up or down. You can put a tee or blouse under it in cooler weather. It is cool, comfortable and adorable!

If you want like this set, but want to go a little more on the "wild side", check out the Lucy and Mackey in Wild Thing.

My next favorite is the Candee dress.

Candee dress

The Candee dress is a classic float dress with a fully lined bodice. The great part about this dress is the strip skirt! I have pieced together 5 different fabrics to make a sensational "mismatched" dress! The bold florals, the pink bird fabric and the brown zebra mix and blend into a delightfully pleasing pattern! This dress is versatile. You can start wearing it in the spring with a blouse underneath. Wear it through the summer as a sun dress. Then in the fall when it starts to get cooler (and perhaps a little shorter) you can put a tee under it and wear as a long top with leggings or jeans!

My third favorite (but definitely not my last) is the Opal dress.



Opal



Opal is a fully lined swing dressed. I have taken three bold floral prints and pieced them together diagonally across the dress. The front bodice features a lovely brown zebra print that adds a little of the unexpected to the dress. Again, this is a versatile piece! I like to be able to get as much wear out of things as I possibly can!

March Madness...DEFINITELY!!!

March may have come in like a lamb....but there is MADNESS at our house!

It's state basketball in Arkansas and Harding Academy is the host of the 3A tournament!

 Our family is helping with the tournament by being a host family. We were assigned the Lady Hornets of Camden-Harmony Grove & the Curly Wolves of Prescott.

We met the teams around one yesterday and made sure they had everything they needed. We made sure they made it to the right locker room and sat behind their team bench during their games. (4 & 5:30).

Now if that is not enough basketball for you....we then watched the Lady Bulldogs of Bald Knob pull out a last second win.

Finally at 8:30 the Harding Academy Wildats took to the court.

The Wildcats got it going in the 4th quarter and got the first round win. 

It was such a great atmosphere in the Rhodes Field House! 

Kolt was a trouper! He was with me the whole time. A total of about 9 hours at the gym just for yesterday!

My tired boy was VERY busy at the house today!!!

Guess he wasn't too tired after an entire day and night of basketball yesterday. Of course, I was trying to do about 20 things too many today. I never knew recycling could be so fun!

We were back again at the gym tonight for more 1st round action.

We love our Lady Wildcats!

The Lady Wildcats took the floor against a very tough team from Charleston.

Down at the half and scoreless for a long time in the 3rd...the ladies turned on the heat and pulled out a super win to advance to the 2nd round of the state tournament!

Lady Wildcats WIN!!!!

 I love watching Jake and all his friends cheering on the girls. I love the different reactions as the buzzer sounds signaling a Lady Wildcat WIN!!

 The best part was hearing the student body sing the Harding Alma Mater at the end of the game. Love traditions!!!

The rest of our week doesn't look any calmer....March Madness....YES....

But do we LOVE it?.....DEFINITELY!!!!



Not a Relaxing Weekend...But a VERY Productive One!!!

As Saturday morning began I felt a little like this....

It was bound to be a very busy day! The night before my husband decided it was time to put a sign in the yard....

and so like that our house was on the market!

The decision to sell the house WAS a joint decision...the timing was not quite agreed upon!

But it was a BEAUTIFUL day...

the sun was shining and the weather was perfect!

Perfect for a game of basketball....

Perfect for sidewalk chalk....

Perfect for a sweet birthday boy to spend out side....AND

Perfect for cleaning out the garage and several other house projects!!!!

(fitting since there was a HUGE sign in the yard basically inviting the world to come inside and see the chaos inside my house!!!)

Jake got out of having to "work" because he was in Jessiville watching the Harding Academy Lady Wildcats and Wildcats play in the Regional basketball championship games.

The rest of my family spent most of the day outside. I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning not only to get ready for tons of people to want to buy our house (hopefully), but also because we were going to celebrate Kolt's 1st birthday on Sunday!

Fabric for new spring designs!

I did get some fabric for new spring designs for my Etsy shop put away. (Sure was hard not to stop everything and start sewing!) There is a link to my shop on the picture!

I also hung a banner that I had made at great Etsy shop called BekahJennings

You will love this shop that "believes in the power of words".

This banner is GREAT!!! It is reusable and I easily hung it to the mantel using just scotch tape. She has banner for all occasions and also will make custom orders! Please check out her shop! I will definitely be ordering from her again. (The girls want to make sure they have one for their birthdays too!)

So although I don't think I sat down until late Sunday night, the weekend was absolutely perfect!

I felt motivated to do some cleaning I had put off...thanks to that SIGN!

My oldest had a blast with friends and cheered the Lady Wildcats on to Regional Runner-Ups and the Wildcats on to the Regional Champs!

My family enjoyed a beautiful day outside!

I felt refreshed by "purging" some items from my home that we didn't need anymore!

We were able to celebrate the blessing of having Kolt in our lives!

And just so you know....I ended my weekend feeling like this!

Come on in...the Water's Fine!

It's times like these that I wish I were more childlike. Children don't really THINK they just DO!

I feel like I'm standing at the edge of the water, knowing full well that the water is going to be freezing, and hearing everyone shout, "Come on in ... the water's fine!"

As I stand here at the edge of this new adventure, knowing full well that I have no clue what I'm doing, I am pushing myself to take the plunge. Just DO it!

So here goes the first official post of Emmilu and Brother Too!

Welcome to Emmilu and Brother Too! What started out as a desire to sew unique clothing for my own children turned into a business a few years ago. Emmilu began as a wholesale company where I designed, manufactured and sold garments to high end children's boutiques. Emmilu is named for my three daughters: Emma, Milly and Lucy. With the surprise blessing of a fifth child and the desire to get back to making custom garments on a smaller scale, Emmilu and Brother Too! was born! I am dedicated to using the highest quality materials and take great pride in making boutique and heirloom worthy garments. I only design and produce garments that I would put on my own children (all 5 of them!)
